When the Individual Doubles League continued this week only Birkirkara pair Aldo Polidano/Stefan Salomone remained with maximum points after end of play. In Div 3 daniel Abdilla/Yanis Boju also retained their 100% record.

Div 1
Aldo/Stefan beat Paola pair Matthew Abela/Kenneth Vella 21-14, 21-14 in a match of fine badminton play. The Birkirkara pair then beat Shuttles’ George Camilleri/Chris Spiteri 21-3, 21-4 in an easy encounter.

Samuel Cali/Stephen Ferrante, who began the week with maximum points, surrendered their first point in a 1-1 draw against the much-quoted Paola pair Owen Grech/Henrik Thomsen withy scores of 17-21, 21-18. They then beat upcoming Msida pair Nigel Degaetano/Kyle Sciberras 21-12, 21-11.

Albert Bezzina/Ivan Salomone drew with Msida’s N. Degaetano/K. Sciberras 21-19, 17-21, and then lost to Paola’s O. Grech/H. Thomsen 21-10, 21-11.

Birkirkara’s other pair in this division – Martin Farrugia/Arif Rochman – drew their first match 19-21, 21-11 against Shuttles pair G. Camilleri/C. Spiteri but lost their second against Paola’s M. Abela/K. Vella with the score of 21-12, 21-9.

Div. 2
Klara O’Berg/Fiorella Sadowski won their two matches played against Paola opposition. They first beat Charles Cassar/Patrick Cassar 21-18, 21/11 and then defeated Jo’Anne Cassar/Jacqueline Grech Licari 21-19, 21-17 in a balanced match.

Div. 3
In this division daniel Abdilla/Yanis Boju kept their 100% record by winning both matches played. They first beat Paola’s Anna Galea/Sandra Spiteri easily 21-9, 21-3 and then won their derby against clubmates Jesmond Galea/Matthew Galea 21-17, 21-10.

The latter made amends for their first defeat when they beat Paola’s A. Galea/S. Spiteri 21/6, 21-11.

Div. 4
Birkirkara’s Olga Fedotkina Galea/Daniella Galea won three out of four points when they first drew against Paola’s Sarah Fava/Cheryl Gilford 21-23, 21-19; as the score shows this was a balanced and thrilling match. In their second match they beat another Paola pair – Michaela Ellul/Martina Vella 21-10, 21-11.
