Birkirkara Badminton Club will be getting their rackets and shuttles to the beach on the 24th of August at Pretty Bay, Birzebbuga for a whole day of Beach Badminton.

The event is going to be fun packed for all to enjoy, starting at 10:00 until late. It is aimed at giving more exposure to this ever-growing Olympic sport.

The day will feature a number of tournaments starting at 15:00 aimed at various levels of play, from beginners to national level players. Medals and prizes will be awarded to the winners at the end of each event.

To participate teams of 2 players need to be formed, accompanied by a minimal fee of €15 per team. Teams will be divided into groups and will play each other on a league basis. The first and second placed team will then proceed to the knockout stage. Each match will consist of 3 games (2 singles and 1 doubles) of up to 21 points each game. The team winning at least 2 of the 3 matches will take the points. The application form for the tournaments can be downloaded here.

If tournaments are not for you but still want to give it a go, then you can also do so. For €5 per 15 minutes, you can book your space and try this amazing sport against friends, other interested onlookers or against one of our national players.

All equipment will be provided at the venue by the organisers at no added cost.
