On the first day of the Junior Team League, introduced for the first time by Badminton Malta, Birkirkara Junior Academy players (ages ranging between 13 and 16) won their match against Badminton Malta Academy 5-0. Our youngsters showed determination and fine play and emerged worthy winners. This thanks to the hard training and work being done by Club coach Martin Farrugia and Junior Academy coaches Stephen Ferrante, Ivan Salomone and Aldo Polidano.

In the Mixed Doubles Sarah Debono/Luigi Grech beat J. Abela/M.C. Mizzi 21-7, 21-13 to win the first point for their team.

Matthew Galea showed some fine skills when he beat Z. Cilia quite easily 21-6, 21-6 in the Men’s Singles.

Yanika Polidano won the third point and the match for Birkirkara when she easily beat R. Spiteri in the Ladies Singles 21-7, 21-9.

Matthew and Luigi teamed up in the Men’s Doubles to beat Cilia/Abela 21-11, 21-7.

Yanika and Sarah completed the fine win, thus acquiring the first points for their team, when they won their Ladies Doubles against M. Gatt/Mizzi 21-11, 21-17.
