The Malta National Singles Champion, Birkirkara Badminton Club’s Samuel Cali, recently took part in the 2nd Luton Performance Centre – Senior Bronze 2013 badminton tournament held at Inspire Luton Sports Village.

Samuel continued to broaden his international experience when he put up a good performance in his latest venture abroad. In the Men’s Singles he met Martin Davey in the 1st Round and won 21-9, 21-17. As the score shows Samuel won the first set easily although he had to fight hard in the second. In the 2nd Round Cali met Ryan Carrick and lost with a respectable score of 21-19, 21-17, after a tight encounter which could have gone either way.

In the Men’s Doubles Samuel was partnered by Alex Skilton. They won their 1st Round match against Robert Cooper/Max Northfield in three close sets: 19-21, 22-20, 21-14. In their 2nd Round match against Daniel Moss/David Poole, they were no match for the fifth seeds and lost 21-12, 21-7.
