Individual Mixed League

Div. 2

The only league match involving a Birkirkara representative in this division was that played by Song Chen Jun/Marija Attard against Paola’s M. Abela/S. Spiteri. In the first set Song/Marija took matters in their own hands from the start and built an unassailable lead to win comfortably 21-15. However the second set was more balanced with the lead changing several times. In the end our pair had to settle for a point losing the second set 22-20.

Div. 3
The two matches played involving Birkirkara pairs both ended in defeats for our players against the same opponents. First Yanis Boju/Camille Campos De Lemos lost to Paola’s P. Cassar/M. Ellul 21-14, 21-15. Although finishing on the losing end Yanis/Camille continued with their recent improvement and were unlucky not to at least earn a point.

In the second match Albert Bezzina/Daniella Galea lost against the same opponents 21-16, 21-10. As the score shows, Albert/Daniella put in a decent opposition in the first set but then failed badly in the second.

Div. 4
Birkirkara’s young pair formed by Matthew Galea/Yanika Polidano won three out of four points on the night. In the first match they beat Shuttles pair A. Zammit/G. Vella Incorvaja easily 21-10, 21-8. As the score shows Matthew/Yanika dominated throughout and won comfortably.

In their next match Matthew/Yanika were unlucky to earn just a point from their encounter against Paola’s more fancied M. Abela/S. Fava. In fact, they were unlucky to lose the first set 24-22, a set which saw the lead alternating all the time. In the second set the Birkirkara pair looked more determined and won 21-16 to get a much merited point.
