The season is underway and with all the national commitments in full swing here comes also the International tournaments for our club member and national title holder Fiorella Marie Sadowski. The road to the qualification for the first European games being held next year in Baku is long and Sadowski together with Cali and national head coach Martin Farrugia will be doing their utmost to get as much points from all their ranking tournaments.
The contingent left our shores for Budapest on the 28th October 2014 and will be having their training session at the venue today in preparation for their matches that are scheduled on Thursday and Friday. Sadowski will be playing against the Spaniard Isabel Fernandez currently forming part of the Junior selection for Spain. The 18 year old is also ranked 16th in the European Junior Rankings and is doing quite well in her international commitments. The women’s singles match is expected to start at 11 :05.
Meanwhile, together with Cali, the Maltese mixed doubles pair currently ranked 320 in the world will be playing the first match on Friday at 09 :00 (Maltese time) against the Russians IIya Zdanov and Irina Khlebko. The match won’t be an easy task for the Maltese since they are up against one of the strongest mixed pair in the tournament. Khlebko’s currently ranked 65th in the world in the Women’s doubles category together with her compatriot Ksenia Polikarpova.
