With the runner-up position secured Badders’ captain Aldo Polidano opted to give some experienceto those players who played least throughout the season in this last match of the season.
In the Mixed Doubles Badders’ Aldo Polidano/Marica Micallef were too strong for George Camilleri/Grace Saliba who were beaten 21-16, 21-13.
Arif Rochman put Badders 2-0 ahead with his 21-15, 21-15 win in the Men’s Singles over Josef Mallia.
However Shuttles did not give in and managed to narrow the gap with a win in the Ladies Singles. Juliet Gatt beat Klara O’Berg 21-13, 21-19.
Shuttles levelled the match when they won the Men’s Doubles. Chris Spiteri/Bilal Qadir beat Badders’ Jesmond Galea/Matthew Galea 21-12, 21-11.
The decisive Ladies Doubles game was won by Badders in a three-setter. Marica Micallef/Klara O’Berg lost the first set to Grace Saliba/Juliet Gatt. As the score shows (25-23) it was a close set with points alternating. However the Birkirkara pair were not to be outdone and rallied to win the next two sets and the match 21-15, 21-14.
Credit to Badders for the good showing in the league despite missing their best lady-player Maria Borg through injury. They ended the league losing only to their team-mates and eventual winners Birkirkara Greenwich.
